BeamNG presented at SceGen: Workshop on Scenario Generation for Testing Autonomous Vehicles of IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium, 2023, on Generating Scenarios with BeamNG.tech.

BeamNG simulator is appropriate for procedural content generation; it provides a variety of vehicle models, maps, and other environment content as well as gives access to external mods via user-friendly APIs. The presentation referred to soft-body physics, a feature that enables BeamNG to model challenging physical phenomena in a realistic way. The different methods to create scenarios with BeamNG.tech was discussed. One such method is accessible without coding knowledge, i.e., via a dynamic node-based scripting language, Flowgraph. For coded scenarios, another method is also possible via the Python API and an alternative via Matlab interface. The available sensors in BeamNG.tech can be used in scenarios. Vehicles and the environment can be equipped with various sensors that provide simulated sensor data. The interoperability options of BeamNG.tech with other simulation tools give the users flexibility and more options. Research projects that used BeamNG.tech for scenario generation were also cited as use cases.
